2019 Roll of Honour
It has been a superb year of walking with many, many highlights.
I have listed below the new hills that I have ascended, a couple of hills already climbed but with a new ascent or descent, along with some excellent trail/path walks.
Among the very many I have picked 3 highlights:
1. Up at Fort William with Ayr & District I led the walk to the Sub2k of An Sgurr on Eigg. Although a lowly walk in some respects it was a dramatic and varied day fondly remembered by many who came along. The day involved a ferry trip and for a few the first look of the hill was from the ferry. Looking at the imposing stack of An Sgurr not sure how we would ascend. But we did and the views from the top stunning. Back at the ferry terminal tea and cake as well as a paddle for some. An excellent outing.
2. On the same Fort William trip a small group of us tackled the Grey Corries ridge, a dramatic day with more stunning scenery, just outstanding.
3. Last but not least the traverse of Bidean nan Bian from Glencoe. The low clouds disappearing from the summit as we lunched to let us view the magnificent surroundings followed by a very interesting descent into the Lost Valley.
I hope 2020 is just as special.
