A morning escape....Bioda Buidhe

Hill: Bioda Buidhe

Type: Sub2k

Height: 466m

A couple of hours break from the good lady so after a full brekkie a quick drive up the pot holed road to the Quiraing car park. Beware like almost all view points on Skye pay and display machines. There are various options to extend this ramble but my free time meant a quick up and down. Although it is only a short route I have missed this out on a couple of occasions due to the very high winds. A damp moorland plod if you want to be over cautious. I chose the track which does go dangerously close to huge drops at times. The gusting wind meant I was not going too close to the edge, just in case. Fabulous views of an amazing landscape, this is very different to most of Scotland. Also excellent views across the islands to the mainland peaks of Torridon, Assynt and much more. Looking north the Outer Hebrides are just in view across The Minch. But south the Cuillins remain clad in cloud and fog. The top itself is not marked, typical of a wee Sub2k.

If you have the time worth doing the other Sub2k or the Quiraing walk itself and make a day of it.

But now time to get the good lady and do tourist stuff.

The start summit cannot be seen
